With the acceleration of globalization,the world has been narrowed to a "global village",and the frequency of intercultural communication in the economic,social and cultural fields is increasing.As an important place to cultivate intercultural talents,colleges and universities need to focus on improving students’ intercultural competence.RICH-Ed,a transnational cooperation research project funded by Erasmus+,European Commission,which involves close collaboration of eight partners of high educational institutions from four countries.The project aims to define a pedagogical approach for intercultural learning in Chinese higher education;to develop,test,design and compile teaching resources.The RICH-Ed project has been implemented in the intercultural classroom of Hangzhou Dianzi University.The intercultural classroom with RICH-Ed resource as the main teaching content plays an important role in improving students’intercultural competence.Relevant studies show that there is a close relationship between RICH-Ed project and the improvement of students’ intercultural competence,but there are few empirical studies on the relationship between the two.In view of this,this paper explores whether RICH-Ed project can improve students’ intercultural competence through empirical research.This paper attempts to explore the positive correlation between RICH-Ed project and cultural intelligence,test whether the factors of the participants will affect the experimental results,and collect the suggestions and opinions of teachers and students on intercultural classroom though quantitative and qualitative analyses.A total of 202 students participate in the experiment and complete questionnaires which contain cultural intelligence scale before and after the teaching experiment.The research shows that the two-month intercultural teaching based on the RICH-Ed project has significant influence on the improvement of metacognitive cultural intelligence,motivational cultural intelligence and behavioral cultural intelligence of students in Hangzhou Dianzi University,improving the intercultural competence of the experimental subjects.Factors such as "major" and "experience of going abroad" have significant influence on the experiment.No significant influence of "English level" and "gender" on the experimental results is found.Finally,according to the interview,the author summarizes the opinions and suggestions of teachers and students,and puts forward suggestions on the experimental research of intercultural teaching in terms of learning materials,teaching contents and students’ tasks.
