A Report On Translation Of CAAI Official News Based On The Appraisal Theory

The fact that China plays an increasingly prominent role in the international community encourages a growing number of Chinese entities to promote popularity.One of the common practices is translating materials from Chinese to foreign languages,namely,through publicity translation.Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence,a national-level academic association in the field of artificial intelligence,has been an active practitioner of publicity translation for years.Based on the translation of the news of Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence,the report aims to illustrate how the appraisal theory help analyze authorial stance and realize equivalent translation.The theory was proved practical for publicity translation and main translation strategies include:making attitude resources plain and clearly rather than reshaping Chinses rhetoric;reducing excessive graduation resources to avoid confusion;and explicitly expressing the implied stance conveyed by the engagement resources.Based on this research,the report provided suggestions for CAAI’s publicity transaltion.
