Walzer’s View Of Justice

"Justice",as the eternal political appeal pursued by mankind,is also a topic with a long history and often talked about.For a long time,"justice" has been the focus of political philosophy.As a representative of pluralistic justice,it is of great significance to study Walzer’s view of justice.Walzer’s view of justice focuses on solving specific practical problems and is more socially historic.Inspired by Rawls,Walzer’s view of justice broke through Rawls’ invariability.Walzer tried to establish a set of pluralistic and compound justice theory based on American real society.This paper mainly analyzes Walzer’s view of justice from two aspects:multiple distribution and compound equality.The theory of multiple distribution is a core content of Walzer’s theory of justice.Walzer believes that "justice" can only be achieved through multiple distribution.Walzer wants to realize his multiple distribution by stipulating the scene,subject,content and principle of distribution.Through the study of different communities,Walzer excluded the world community and the historical community successively,and finally determined the political community as the distribution scene,which also provided political support for the realization of compound equality.As for the content of distribution,Walzer is positioned on the social good things with neutral nature,which greatly increases the contradiction between "freedom" and "equality".For the distribution subject,Walzer is defined as a community member with membership.Walzer thought about three possible forms of realizing fairness and justice,and put forward three principles of distribution.This kind of thinking based on results can ensure a just result to a greater extent.Another core content of Walzer’s justice theory is the compound equality theory.Walzer’s compound equality is also quite different from simple equality.Walzer thinks that a just society must be an equal society,but not all people in all fields can completely reach the average.Because in different fields,our distribution principle must be changed according to the principles applicable inthat field.If all fields are distributed according to a standard principle,this will cause an inequality in itself.For example,the field of education is suitable for the principle of deserving,and school-age students deserve the right to education,but the market field is not suitable for this principle.If we stipulate who deserves it in the market field,it will undoubtedly be an act of disrupting the market.To achieve equality in various fields,in order to achieve a compound equality as a whole,it is easier to meet people’s equal needs and realize people’s pursuit of justice.This is also the charm of Walzer’s compound equality theory.In a word,Walzer’s view of justice is a theory of achieving a compound equality state by means of multiple distribution.Walzer’s theory of justice pays attention to practical problems and focuses on solving practical problems,which has strong theoretical and practical significance.
