The Qutan Temple in Ledu County,Qinghai Province was built in the early Ming Dynasty when the frontier of Sino-Tibetan exchanges.Ledu was the main link between Tibet and the inland at that time.Therefore,Qutan Temple was valued by the rulers of the Ming Dynasty.The architecture,sculptures,and murals were all buillt by the rulers of the Ming Dynasty.Royal producer,with a high artistic standard.Although Qutan Temple is a Tibetan Buddhist monastery,ts architecture is in a Han-style royal style.The murals present the unique phenomenon of the coexistence of the two styles of Han-Tibeten murals.It is one of the outstanding representatives of the Ming Dynasty mural art.Nowadays,the study of Qutan Temple’s murals is mostly seen in figures.This article will start from a new perspective of landscape painting and will take cloister murals as the main research object.Based on the field investigation and literature research of Qutan Temple,the historical background and murals of Qutan Temple are summarized.It is believed that the murals the three main halls of Qutan Temple are inherited from the Indian and Nepalese styles,and the cloister murals are of the Han painting style.According to the historical development sequence of landscape painting,it clarified the influence of Buddhist mural art and Song and Ming dynasty landscape paintings on the corridor landscape murals,and deduced that the corridor landscape murals were closely related to the early Ming Dynasty painting academy and the "Zhejiang School".Using the image analysis method,we compare and analyze the concrete manifestations of the landscape elements such as the composition,coloring,mountains and rocks,trees,etc.of the corridor landscape murals.Demonstrating that landscape in the story of Buddhism as the objective manifestation of abstract Buddhist thought in the real world is conducive to the spread of religious thought and reflects the significance of the existence of temple-view landscape murals.And placed the Qutan Temple cloister murals in the Ming Dynasty painting history and mural art history,and concluded that the meticulous and colorful Qutan Temple cloister murals were masterpieces of atypical art and temple murals during the period when literati painting was popular throughout the Ming Dynasty.The mural paintings in the corridors of Qutan Monastery have played a demonstrative role in the Tibetan areas,so that the Tibetan painting art has gradually moved closer to the Central Plains while retaining the local style of the local painting school,forming the Karma school of painting and the New Mian Tang painting school.The painting school shows the important value of the murals in the corridor of Qutan Temple.Through the in-depth study of the Qutan Temple’s corridors of landscape murals it complements the study of Qutan Temple’s murals,which is conducive to the systematic review of the history of Chinese landscape murals.
