With the development of the Belt and Road Initiative,and the increasingly frequent international material and cultural exchanges,tourism is playing an increasingly important role in intercultural communication.The translation of public signs as an important reference for foreign tourists understand China.However,there is still a common phenomenon of mistranslation in the translation of public notices in scenic spots in China.This not only affects the development of tourism,but also is detrimental to the international image of China.Therefore,the study of public signs should not be neglected.From the perspective of cross-cultural pragmatics,the author makes a systematic study on the C-E translation of public signs.Based on the focus of cross-cultural pragmatics and the characteristics of public signs translation,the purpose is to make the original and the target have the same communicative function.The main function of public signs in scenic spots is to provide foreign tourists with necessary information and facilitate their travel.It is to stimulate tourism interest by introducing scenic culture.However,the translation of public signs belongs to practical translation,and the transmission of cultural factors is particularly important.Thus,this paper focuses on the cultural differences in the translation of public signs as the breakthrough point,and cross-cultural pragmatics as the theoretical framework,starting from the pragmatic equivalence theory and high-low context theory,aiming to explore the causes of public signs mistranslation,and summarize the practical translation strategies.It aims to achieve effective and accurate public signs translation and improve the public signs translation quality in scenic spots in order to better disseminate the Chinese culture。Based on the above theory,the author will select the representative 5A scenic spots from seven regions in China as the data analysis sources.In order to ensure the objectivity and comprehensiveness of the data,the selected scenic spots include both natural scenic spots and cultural scenic spots.By using the methods of comparative analysis,case analysis and qualitative and quantitative analysis,this paper systematically summarizes the errors types of public signs translation and analyzes the causes of mistranslation in the C-E translation of public signs in scenic spots.The principles and strategies of public signs translation in scenic spots are put forward to enhance the readability and acceptability of the translation.
