Study On Inheritance And Development Of Huaibei Clappers Opera In Anhui Province

Traditional Huaibei Clappers Opera,also known as “Shahe Tone”,“High Wooden Clappers” and “Clay Wooden Clappers”,is the only operatic art form in Anhui Province that belongs to the Wooden Clappers system.The male voice of Huaibei Clappers Opera is high and passionate,and by contrast the female voice is euphemistic and pleasant.The opera is in possession of a considerable public base in Huaibei area given its bold and unconstrained,exquisite and vivid feature in performance.In 2011,with the approval of the State Council,Huaibei Clappers Opera is included in the third batch of national intangible cultural heritage list.This paper,taking Huaibei Clappers Opera as the object of investigation and research,will study four aspects,the origin and progress,artistic inheritance,contemporary dissemination and development prospects of Huaibei Clappers opera on the basis of literature research and field investigation.This paper constitutes of three parts: introduction,body part and conclusion.The introduction part expounds the purpose of the topic,clarifies the research value and research methods,and reviews the existing research results.The body part is divided into four chapters.In the first chapter,the ecology,origin and development of Huaibei Clappers opera will be discussed.Its process of development is elucidated on the ground of filed investigation and literature record,which is divided into four stages according to the contemporary social background,namely,popularization,enhancement,crisis and reconstruction.In the second chapter,artistic inheritance of Huaibei Clappers Opera is discussed from four perspectives,the accompaniment of vocal cavity,the development of the profession,the language art and the achievement of repertory.Chapter 3 investigates the current situation of inheritance and development of Huaibei Clappers Opera.One of the most representatives Clappers Opera Troupe in the city of Suzhou is chosen as research object and a study of its operation,creation and performance is made.Through an exclusive interview to the inheritors,the crisis and practical problems of the inheritance and development of Huaibei Clappers Opera are analyzed,aiming to show the current real situation of Huaibei Clappers Opera.In the fourth chapter,the author analyzes the functional value of Huaibei Clappers Opera and makes a reflection on the prospect of its inheritance and spread based on the first-hand data of the above field research.The conclusion part summarizes all the arguments in each chapter,and provokes new thinking.Through the study of Huaibei Clappers Opera,a typical opera in Huaibei region,this paper presents the existing status of traditional local opera,discusses the thought of development on local opera in the contemporary era,and summarizes the experience for the development of intangible cultural heritage protection and the integration of traditional opera and modern culture.
