| Mobile learning,a new learning method combining mobile communication technology with learning,features with convenience and efficiency.With the rapid development of the Internet and mobile technology,mobile learning and language learning are witnessing a closer and closer combination between them as evidenced by the wide application of various mobile devices in different levels of teaching,bringing new opportunities for English teaching.The era of “Internet+” has seen more and more scholars conduct research on the mobile English learning.As one of the important learning content of junior high school English,vocabulary learning is widely discussed by scholars.However,many problems prevail in English vocabulary learning in primary and secondary schools domestically,such as single and inefficient vocabulary learning methods,and the lack of enthusiasm and interest in vocabulary learning among students.Another feasible way for vocabulary learning has been provided thanks to the popularity of vocabulary learning software and network.Based on that,this study aims to explore the application of mobile learning in junior high school students’ English vocabulary learning.Based on informal learning theory,multimodal theory and constructivist learning theory,90 students in Grade Two from a junior high school in Linyi have been chosen as the research subjects by this study to conduct a three-month teaching experiment.Among them,45 students in the experimental class use “Bai Ci Zhan”,a vocabulary learning application,to learn vocabulary,while the remaining students in the control class learn English vocabulary in a traditional way.Through English vocabulary tests,questionnaire and interview,the data are collected to understand the information and processed and analyzed by virtue of SPSS25.The purpose of this study is to solve the following three issues:(1)What are junior high school students’ attitudes towards the application of mobile learning in vocabulary learning?(2)What effects does mobile learning have on vocabulary learning achievements of junior high school students?(3)What effects does mobile learning have on vocabulary learning achievements of junior high school students at different levels?The results show that:(1)Most students hold a positive attitude towards the application of mobile learning in vocabulary learning,meanwhile,they also point out the advantages and disadvantages of the mobile learning and put forward some suggestions for improvement.(2)Mobile learning exerts positive impacts on vocabulary learning achievements of junior high school students.(3)Mobile learning can improve the English vocabulary achievements of students at different levels.However,students at the low and intermediate level are affected by it in a more prominent way.Based on this study,the author finds that the application of mobile learning in junior high school English vocabulary learning is conducive to students’ understanding and use of vocabulary.The above research results reveal that mobile learning boasts certain values in guiding junior high school students to learn English vocabulary and the way it is taught.Therefore,on one hand,teachers can incorporate mobile learning with vocabulary teaching in their daily teaching;on the other hand,correct guidance to students at different levels shall be given;at the same time,students should make full use of their time both during and after class to learn vocabulary to improve learning efficiency. |
