The Research On Gu Yinyu And His Poetry In The Late Qing Dynasty

Gu Yinyu was a prestigious poet and calligrapher during the late Qing dynasty,in the district of Bashu.His masterpiece Poems of Mr Gu in Chengdu,An Jiu Yi Zhai Chi Du as well as his poems and books have lasted for centuries.Currently,academics circles are more focusing on investigating the art of his calligraphy,while his poetry is barely noticed.This article mainly shed light on his experiences,social activities,contents of his poems,literary techniques of his poetry,and his writing style,strive to figure out the feature of his poetry art according to his course of life,to gain an insight into the holistic view of the Bashu’s literature during the late Qing dynasty.This article mainly includes the followings:The first part is to sort out the life experience of Gu Yinyu,his social activities and his masterpieces.Combined with relevant literature,I systematically investigate Gu Yinyu’s life experience and experience,and divides it into three stages: studying in the young age,entering imperial examination and official service,and experiencing the revolution of 1911.Then,on the basis of his life experience,this paper sorts out his friendship activities with Zhang Zhidong,Wang Kaiyun,Yang Rui,Chen Sanli,Chen Yan,Qiao Dazhuang and other scholars in the late Qing Dynasty.Thus,this paper analyzes the relationship between the above friendship and Gu Yinyu’s life,character and poetry creation.The second part combines Gu Yinyu’s life and friendship experience,in order to investigate the subject matter of his poems.Because Gu Yinyu has rich knowledge,extensive experience and many friends,his poems are rich in content.Some of them are poems recording travel,which reflect what the poet saw and heard in the journey and his self-exiling of mental state.The sentimental poems expresse Gu Yinyu’s feelings and thoughts,and reproduces the inner world of an old scholar in troubled times.Communication poems indicate the deep-bonded friendship between Gu Yinyu and his friends,which can also be a supplement to the deeds of the literati in the late Qing Dynasty.Poems Inscribed on paintings and poems discussing calligraphy show Gu Yinyu’s unique aesthetic taste,which is also helpful to the study of calligraphy and painting in the late Qing Dynasty.The third part is to analyze the artistic techniques of Gu Yinyu’s poems.On the basis of the classification of Gu Yinyu’s poems,this paper sums up the artistic techniques of Gu Yinyu’s poems,which mainly include three aspects: "the richness of poetic color","Plentiful use of line drawing" and "the profundity of allusions".The fourth part is to explore the artistic style of poetry.Combined with artistic expressions,then analyzing from the aspects of language,emotion,style,etc,I sum up the artistic style of his poetry,namely "direct and natural","elegant and profound","solid and gloomy".Then,this paper combines Gu Yinyu’s life and friendship experience to analyze the reasons for the change of Gu Yinyu’s poetry style.Gu Yinyu is proficient in both poems and books,while he didn’t get as much attention as he deserved in literature writing.Through the above four parts,this article has deepened the understanding of Gu Yinyu’s life,social activities and poetry writing,which has positive effects on enriching the study of poetry created during the late Qing dynasty,boosting the establishment of the literature in Bashu district to some extent.
