Although the detective images in the early Chinese detective novels were born out of the western detective novels,they have created different personality and spiritual characteristics with the western detective images in the decades of localization development.Their feelings of helping the world and chivalrous spirit,their noble and indifferent attitude,their attitude of being detached from the world,and their anxiety and powerlessness in the face of the mired country reflect the unique differences between the detective images in the early Chinese detective novels and those in the western classical detective novels.In the construction of these detective images,the writers follow the way of creating personalized characters in Chinese classical literature,and use the common techniques of character expression in Chinese classical literature.By studying the detective images in early Chinese detective novels,we can see that although Chinese detective novels originated from the imitation of western detective novels,they have strong "Sinicization" characteristics in the course of decades of development.This paper is divided into six chapters to discuss the detective images in early Chinese detective novels.The first chapter is the introduction,which mainly defines the concept of early Chinese detective stories,defines the scope of research and combs the current situation of research.The second chapter mainly discusses the formation basis of early Chinese detective novels.There are two main bases for the creation of Chinese detective stories.One is the introduction of western detective stories under the enlightenment trend of thought,and the other is the integration of detective stories and detective stories.The third chapter mainly classifies the early Chinese detective images into three categories:private detective,amateur detective and grand theft detective.The fourth chapter mainly combines the influence of traditional Chinese aesthetic taste and Confucian and Mohist culture on the image of the characters,and summarizes the traditional characteristics of the early Chinese detective image,which are: adhering to the moral feelings of helping the world,supporting the weak and loving the chivalrous spirit,modest and indifferent attitude towards life,and indulging in the landscape of life sentiment.The fifth chapter mainly combines with the social and historical context of a specific era to explore the characteristics of the times reflected by the detective image,which are: the rising patriotic national salvation emotion under the crisis,and the deepening reality anxiety in the materialistic crossflow.The sixth chapter attempts to excavate the techniques of expression used by the writer in shaping the detective image.The writer uses the interweaving of classical elements and modern elements to create the detective image with Chinese characteristics;and uses the technique of texturing and dyeing step by step to render the unique image characteristics of Chinese detective.The conclusion is based on the academic debate on the origin of Chinese detective novels,and points out that early Chinese detective novels have national characteristics,and Chinese detectives have unique spiritual temperament and moral concepts.Under the continuous impact of Western civilization,China’s detective novels and even China’s literature and culture should absorb foreign essences while preserving their cultural characteristics.This question deserves our continuous consideration.
