John Hick is one of the most influential religious philosophers of our time.Starting from the religious phenomenon,he explains that faith is a comprehensive interpretation, that is,people interpret the world on the basis of the ultimate real person of their faith. When Hick classifies faith as a full explanation, what does it mean to know things in terms of "meaning" and ultimate reality? Hick believes that there are two ways people know the world: one is theological way,the other is the naturalistic way.In Hick’s view, both ways of understanding the world are valid.Naturalists know the world from a scientistic perspective, and theologians know the material world with the ultimate. So how do the theologians understand the physical world with the ultimate reality? Hick draws on Wittgenstein’s "as" thought and transforms it into "experience",i.e.people view the world in a thetheistic way,and then people "experience" the phenomenon as "the presence of God,which is due to an inherent religious tendency." In religious understanding, there is a cognitive distance between people and ultimate reality. Therefore, people realize that the ultimate is not the ultimate reality itself.Although people have been exploring religious reality, people can’t really understand the ultimate reality itself, and Hick feels that this is God’s space for freedom.Hick also drew on Kant’s idea of "self-containedness" to distinguish between the ultimate reality and the reality itself.Because of the differences between each religious traditional civilization and region, people will know the ultimate reality according to their own religious tradition, and the way to respond to the ultimate is different, resulting in a bit of a god and a non-spiritual reality.Although religious beliefs respond differently to the ultimate truth, there are similarities and differences in the structure of redemption theory.Because the major religions have provided an infinitely beautiful end point, for people to provide a path to redemption, are the realization of human survival from self-centered to reality-centered turn.
