The Script And It’s Creation Of The Drama "Longevity Lock"

Set in the late Qing dynasty,the realistic drama Longevity lock tells the story of the three children of the Cao’s family,a scholar-bureaucrat,whose lives were changed because of a Longevity lock.After the First Opium War of the 1840,China was reduced to the Semi-colony,feudal rule declined,and the authority of China’s traditional patriarchal system was undermined.The play focuses on the people with awakening consciousness in this special period and explores the humanistic spirit and life meaning of the people in this period in the late Qing dynasty.Longevity lock is a traditional Chinese pendant,meaning that the offspring of this is a life of peace,health and obedience,family incense constantly.In this story,this everlasting lock,which represents a good blessing,has become a yoke of feudal morality,the search for development of the new forces,the pursuit of ideals and freedom of life,the temptation of human greed and selfish nature,has become a counterproductive reminder.The works of Longevity lock are discussed from the following aspects: theme,drama structure,plot setting,character image,character relationship,innovation and stage presentation.I hope that through the works,we can explore the deep humanistic spirit,show the ideological and artistic nature of realistic themes,and embody the artistic value and quality of drama to humanity.
