In this paper, chapters in Linda Porter’s The First Queen of England are selected for translation. After analysing the strategies proposed by scholars at home and abroad, the translator will explore a set of comprehensive translation methods of relative clauses. The author of The First queen of England is Linda Porter, who is a British history learner at the University of York. This book introduced the queen misunderstood by people of the Britain for a hundred years. The era Mary lived in and important experiences in her life. There are many long complex sentences and a large number of relative clauses are used, which create difficulties to translation. This paper adopts the method of case study to explore the translation methods of relative clauses in the book and explain the reasons for using specific translation methods. The translation techniques of three scholars are selected and the analytical framework is proposed.Through practice and case analysis, the author summarizes the translation methods applicable to relative clauses, including combination, division, fusion and conversion, among which division can be divided into anaphora and post-positioning.The most appropriate translation method of relative clauses should be chosen based on different context.
