Handel is one of the most representative composers in Baroque period,among which oratorio is one of the important creative themes in Handel’s life,and is known as "the father of oratorio".In this paper,Handel’s oratorio aria "An ominous storm blows",also known as(Storm).The piano accompaniment part is deeply studied,the aspects of musical form structure,musical style,playing techniques and actual playing requirements.This paper is divided into three parts.The first part briefly introduces the creation of Handel’s oratorio,including some historical background information of the composer;The second part makes a detailed musical analysis of the aria "The Tempest";The third part studies piano accompaniment in Handel’s oratorio in detail.Firstly,by discussing the characteristics of piano accompaniment in The Tempest,it summarizes the requirements and steps of piano accompaniment in Handel’s oratorio in actual performance,and introduces how to cooperate with singers.In view of the above problems,combined with the author’s rich experience in piano accompaniment for many years,this paper sums up the basic ideas and steps of piano accompaniment in oratorio.Through the writing process of this thesis,the author has not only improved his theoretical ability,but also improved his professional level.I hope this thesis can provide some help for the learners who study the piano accompaniment of Handel’s oratorio.
