Marriage is deemed as a social activity closely related to every individual in the society,which is also a cultural phenomenon to promote the development of human history.It has been the focus of human beings since ancient times.The Spring and Autumn period is an important period of transition from slavery society to feudal society,during witch the social,political,economic and patriarchal system of rites are constantly impacted.That’s why the marriage custom evolves with the development of society.In this paper,the marriage customs in Jin state serves as the main research object,based on the previous vertical research on the pre Qin marriage customs,it starts from the perspective of Jin State,combined with the existing data,thus exploring the historical reasons and significance of its formation and development.Based on the relevant literature,the paper is divided into four parts:In the first part,it analyzes the form of Jin State’s marriage customs.First of all,the marriage custom of Jin state is divided into the remains of the original marriage custom and the marriage custom under the influence of patriarchal system.As for the inheritance and development of the primitive marriage custom in the early Zhou Dynasty,it is mainly based on specific forms and supplemented by time sequence.Further analysis is carried out on its evolution into different marriage forms,such as the marriage of the same surname,the marriage with concubines,the marriage with mothers,aunts after their husband’s death and the private intercourse,based on the inheritance of the primitive marriage custom and the development of the times.Based on the analysis of inheritance of the primitive marriage custom and combined with the development of the times,it has gradually evolved into many marriage custom forms,such as the same surname marriage,the concubine marriage,the newspaper marriage,the robbery marriage and the polygamy marriage.Secondly,from the perspective of marriage under the patriarchal system,this paper discusses the marriage customs of Jin State,which follow the patriarchal system.It can be mainly embodied in that princes follow the marriage between Ji and Jiang and the mainstream marriage etiquette with "six rites" as its core.Finally,in order to reflect the marriage and marriage customs of Jin as much as possible,this paper discusses the folk marriage and marriage customs of Jin with reference to the marriage and love poems in Book of Songs.In this part,we try our utmost to demonstrate the marriage customs of Jin State.In the second part,it draws a summary and analysis of the characteristics of marriage customs in Jin State.In the marriage of the Jin State,it embodies the phenomenon that the obedience and violation of the patriarchal system coexist,the original marriage custom and the patriarchal system complement each other.Later,combined with data,this paper analyzes the characteristics of the aristocratic polygamous system and the transformation of civil marriage from free love to following the command of parents.The third part mainly introduces the marriage of Jin State under the political turbulence of Spring and Autumn period.Marriage serves as a kind of marriage activity with special political purpose,which is quite significant for the study of marriage in Jin state.This paper explores the background,purpose and result of the marriage from three aspects: the marriage between the royal family of Jin State with vassal states and aristocratic families,as well as the marriage between the aristocrats of Jin State and other ethnic groups.It is concluded that their marriage are all based on political purposes,and alliance due to temporary interests will also turn against them.The fourth part draws a conclusion on the influence of the marriage of Jin State.Its marriage activities embrace lots of functions,such as establishing military alliance,improving the power of hegemony,easing international relations and seeking political assistance.The marriage between Jin and other ethnic groups also provided opportunities for the cultural,political and military exchanges between two parties and promoted the mutual integration and development of all ethnic groups in China.In addition,the marriage of Jin also exerts a certain impact on the social status of the women who were involved in the marriage.These women are regarded as family accessories.Even after marriage,they still obey the "patriarchy".However,due to the marriage activities,these women become more involved in political activities when maintaining the relationship between the two countries.Generally speaking,the marriage customs of Jin state reflect the combination of of strong and weakness,as well as hardness and softness,which embrace rich and flexible cultural connotations.
