On The Anti-Utopia Thought Of The Windup Girl

Paul Bacigalupi(1972-)is an American Californian.He published his first science fiction novel in 1998 and made his mark on the science fiction world in 2005.The Windup girl,his first novel,is a world as complex as it is,in spite of the odd pattern of technological decay(oil-based decay)and prosperity(only biological genetics is highly developed).This article takes The Windup Girl as the research object,on the basis of the close reading of the text,from the perspective of Anti-Utopia Thoughts to discuss the environmental pollution,gender equality and racial oppression.On the premise of clarifying various problems,the author analyzes the direction of the work to reality and its warning significance.The first chapter is the introduction,which mainly introduces Paul Bacigalupi and his works,the current research status of his works at home and abroad,and the Anti-Utopia Thoughts to be used in this paper.In the Anti-Utopia world,the Eden world that the mankind yearns for is gone,the science and technology plays the reverse role as the political appendage.The second chapter discusses the relationship between man and nature,ruling race and alien race,male and female in the cruel dystopian world.In the world of the novel,modern and ancient humans face the same harsh natural environment,and they continue to destroy nature while protecting the holy city.The ruling race always monitors and suppresses the alien race.There is a constant struggle between different countries for resources.The whole society is still a strong society dominated by men,and women become the background of the society.The third chapter analyzes how the two female protagonists took the road of resistance.This paper mainly analyzes the growth path of the female protagonist from three parts: the new human,the avenger,Kanya and the awakening of individual consciousness.Kanya because of the childhood memories of the tie and stuck,Emiko to the identity of the self can not locate and confused.In the end,they are clear in their own hearts on the road to find their own,to save their own.The fourth chapter discusses the realistic alert significance and humanistic care of this novel.It is mainly constructed from three parts: the return of the historical cycle,the two-sided nature of science and technology,and the final trend of human and non-human.Literature is the study of humanity,the writer in the imagination of the future social picture at the same time deep thinking.Many elements in the works reveal the author’s concern about the current era of diversification and multi-faceted.He hopes to use the doomsday scene in the novel to awaken human beings to reflect on the current society.The conclusion mainly discusses the significance of the writer’s construction of Anti-Utopia world in this novel.Writer is ruined the future of the world,works exude Anti-Utopia thought that writers want everyone to realize that Anti-Utopia come may be in the near future,is the inevitable result of social evolution.
