"Moving the capital to food" is a special case in the phenomenon of "primary and auxiliary swing".The phenomenon of shifting the capital to the eclipse in history is the most typical in the Tang Dynasty. In the Tang Dynasty, there were more than ten transfers from Chang’an to Luoyang to eat.Starting from the reign of Zhenguan,Taizong had eaten in Luoyang three times;during Gaozong period there were seven transfers to eat;Xuanzong had five times in Luoyang to food.Under the splendor of Chang’an in the Sui and Tang Dynasties, there are shortcomings: due to the continuous growth of the population, the land carrying capacity has been in a state of oversaturation.Coupled with the frequent natural disasters in the early period of the Tang Dynasty, the economic status of the Guanzhong area was much lower than before, and food was far from being able to continue to meet the needs of the population of the capital. Moreover,in the early Tang Dynasty, the water transportation system in Chang’an was not perfect, and it was far more difficult to transport grain from Jiangnan and other regions to Chang’an than to Luoyang.Because of Luoyang’s superior geographical location and its relatively complete grain transfer system, the emperor chose to lead his concubines and officials to Luoyang for food.During the eclipse period, the corresponding political center was also transferred from Chang’an to Luoyang. After the eclipse was completed and returned to Chang’an,Chang’an was restored to its capital status. It was not until after the Kaiyuan period that the water transportation problem in Chang’an was well resolved, and Luoyang City gradually declined, and the emperor and his party stopped going east to eat.In the early period of the Tang Dynasty, eating food was the fundamental reason for the emperor to go to the eastern capital. Therefore, eating food was an important part of studying the issue of the "main and auxiliary swing" period in the Tang Dynasty.
