"Body" And "Time"

The interpretation of Wang Yangming’s "unity of knowledge and action" mainly involves two of the most fundamental questions:first,Yang Guorong,Chen Lai mentioned "debate on ontology and practice",also is the contradiction between the talent "conscience" and "unity of knowledge and action",because "conscience" with both the "ontology" and "know" double identity,as a "ontology",will it inevitably lead to " knowledge comes before action "?Secondly,just as "knowing filial piety"does not necessarily mean "acting filial piety",there is a problem of motivation and will,or the contradiction of "is" and "ought" in western ethics,and the problem of"inability of will",that is,the problem of how "knowing" can be implemented.In addition,this paper also involves another very important question,that is,whether"unity of knowledge and action" can be applied both to knowledge and morality.To the first question,this article first discusses the difference between Zhu Zi and Wang Yangming’s concepts of "knowledge" and "action",suggests that the core of Wang Yangming’s "unity of knowledge and action" is "the present",and further points out the "conscience" is not a default entity,it will be manifest itself according to circumstances,and "unity of knowledge and action" means the "self-realization" of"conscience" in its own "action".In terms of knowledge,"conscience" acquires its"knowledge" in "action".From the moral point of view,this is the process of"conscience" realizing itself and presenting itself,that is to say,"conscience" must be"action" or it cannot be "conscience".The second problem was not a problem at all with Wang Yangming.The "unity of knowledge and action" is based on the "holism" view of Wang Yangming."Mind is Li","body and mind are one" and "all things are one" constitute the whole connotation of the "holism" view,and its essence is the "body" of "sense-response".From the perspective of phenomenology and body philosophy,this "holism" body’s ability to "sense and respond" in the "present" will reveal "knowledge" and "action"are "one" from the sages to the foolish.But the foolish’s "unity of knowledge and action" is the "unity" of clouded "conscience" and "action",that is,the "unity" of"dark knowledge" and "dark action",just like the "do not know filial piety" and "not filial piety" people can also "know the etiquette" and " do the etiquette ".Therefore,what the "unity of knowledge and action" reveals is a primary "unity"of "knowledge" and "action" in the "present" situation.The true meaning of Wang Yangming ’s teaching of "unity" does not lie in whether "knowledge" and "action" are"unity",because they must be "unity".Its purpose is how we can get rid of "knowing and doing" and return to the "knowing and doing" that "conscience" naturally demands.This is where the "time" lies,"the opportunity to enter the holy".This will lead us to the investigation of the time of "present" and "one thought".
