A Study Of Ocean Writing In Novels Of Sui,Tang And Five Dynasties

During the Sui and Tang Dynasties,with social stability,economic prosperity and strong national strength,China’s diplomatic and economic and trade exchanges with its surrounding areas became more frequent,shipbuilding technology and navigation technology developed,and maritime transportation also rose.Influenced by this,the content of writing ocean in the strange tales,legends and anecdotes of this period is obviously more than that of the previous generation,so it has certain literary value and significance to carry out research in this field.Through the interpretation of the novels of Sui,Tang and Five Dynasties,this paper attempts to study them from a new perspective,excavates the artistic value of ocean writing,analyzes the content of ocean writing in the novels,and probes into the unique narrative function of ocean space.In view of the problems existing in this research field,such as the research object is not comprehensive enough,the research method and angle are single and so on,we should make valuable supplement and innovation.At the same time,this paper studies the influence of marine culture in the field of literature,and explores the artistic expression of marine culture in novels.From the perspective of the ocean,we can understand the artistic characteristics of novels in Sui,Tang and Five Dynasties.The introduction of this paper defines the related concepts of "marine culture","marine novel","sea related novel" and "marine writing",clarifies the scope of the research object,summarizes the research status of the topic,and explains the research value,significance,ideas and methods,so as to achieve further improvement and valuable innovation on the basis of predecessors.The first part mainly traces the development of marine culture before Sui and Tang Dynasties.This paper combs the basic situation of marine culture and marine writing in pre Qin,Qin Han,Wei Jin,southern and Northern Dynasties.Combined with the historical background of the development of marine culture in Sui,Tang and Five Dynasties,this paper compares the marine writing in the novels of this period with that of the previous generation,and analyzes its inheritance and development to the previous generation.The second part focuses on the writing of the marine landscape and products in the novels of Sui,Tang and Five Dynasties,and deeply analyzes the main marine elements in the novels,such as the fairy mountains and islands outside the sea,marine treasures,marine life and so on.These elements constitute a rich and colorful marine world,focusing on the typical images,analyzing the characteristics of these images,and exploring the ideological and cultural connotation behind them.The third part analyzes the main characters in the novels of Sui,Tang and Five Dynasties,focusing on the main groups of marine activities.This paper divides the research objects into three categories: sea related people,sea gods and distant people,respectively explores the characteristics of the representative characters,compares them with the previous generation’s ocean writing,analyzes the changes of typical characters,and probes into the reasons and effects of the expansion of ocean groups in the novel.The fourth part explores the literary function of the marine space in the novels of Sui,Tang and Five Dynasties,briefly describes the main content of the marine space writing,and explores the role of the marine space writing in the novels from the plot structure,aesthetic implication and emotional expression.The fifth part discusses the literary value and influence of the novels of Sui,Tang and Five Dynasties.Mainly from the theme and content,narrative techniques,artistic style and other aspects of the discussion,a brief discussion of its impact on later novel creation.
