Lao She,known as the "People’s Artist" and Pearl S.Buck who won the Nobel Prize for Literature are two dazzling pearls in the modern literary world.The two had a deep friendship before their lives.Since the 1990s,the respective researches of Pearl S.Buck and Lao She have gradually flourished,but comparative studies on the two are rare.This paper selects the works of the anti-war themes created by Pearl Buck and Lao She in similar years(1940s)-Pearl Buck "Dragon" and "Compatriots" and Lao She "Four Generations".According to the characteristics,it classifies all the female images in the background of the war in the novel,tries to use the female image as the starting point,tries to compare the performance of the ideal female image in the heart of Pearl S.Buck and Lao She in literature,and tries to dig out the reason for the concept.Mainly analyze from the following chapters:The first chapter mainly analyzes the characteristics of the group images of the victimized women in the two works.According to the summary of more authoritative documents,women are more vulnerable to men than men in the war.The authors divided into three categories and analyzed each category to find the common ground of the two women’s concern for the victimized women.They also found that the two have different emphasis on the description of various types of victimized women.The second chapter mainly discusses the female anti-war group portraits in the war,and divides them into two categories:women who directly participate in the struggle of force and women who indirectly play the role of resistance according to the description characteristics.The analysis of these images also finds out the similarities and differences between Lao She and Pearl S.Buck in the description of fighting women.The third chapter mainly studies the atypical female images that have not appeared in the works of one party,and they are involved in the works of one party.Extremely selfish treasonous woman.This chapter not only analyzes the unique concerns of the authors in these female images,but also excavates the similar essence contained in these seemingly different female images.The fourth chapter mainly analyzes the cultural causes behind the different female images written by the two.From the three aspects of the influence of complex cultural identity,the influence of women in real life and the influence of creative background,they respectively analyze the ideal female images in Pearl S.Buck and Lao She’s mind.This chapter also summarizes and analyzes all the similarities and differences of female images described in the previous chapter and makes a powerful explanation and reasonable analysis.To sum up,this paper,on the basis of applying imagology,combined with the theoretical methods of feminism,post-colonialism and cultural analysis,compares the female images in the Anti-Japanese War novels written by pearl buck and Lao she,and deeply explores their views on women and creative thoughts.This paper attempts to make a contribution to the comparative study between pearl buck and Lao she. |
