Research On Shen Kuo’s Archival Literature Thought

In the history of China,the document and archives work of the dynasties has gone through the process of exploration,formation and gradual adjustment.Song Dynasty is an important node of the progress of document work in feudal period.From the historical materials,we can clearly see the attempt and breakthrough in the practice and concept of archives in Song Dynasty.Although some of these systems died prematurely and some tended to be conservative,the existence of document and archives work has been deeply integrated into the development context of Dynasty politics and national movement.It has served the implementation of various policies for a long time and has been recognized by the mainstream consciousness of the ruling group.It is an invisible hand in governing the country.Influenced by his time and position,Shen Kuo will inevitably participate in the relevant archival work while engaged in political activities.However,there is no positive answer and evaluation on whether Shen Kuo has a clear idea of archival literature.To be sure,from the records of historical documents,it seems that there is no direct or clear summary and expression of Shen Kuo’s archival thoughts.However,there are a lot of ideas and practices related to archival literature thought from various historical materials recording Shen Kuo’s official experience in different periods and his works.In the spirit of pragmatism and innovation,Shen Kuo actively used archives to participate in Wang Anshi’s reform movement,reforming suburban worship etiquette,rectifying Si Tian Jian,reorganizing San Si,opening up Si,and resolving the border disputes between song and Liao dynasties;It is different from the majority of civil servants and literati who pay more attention to "Literature" than"reason",pay more attention to fantasy than practice,and ignore the scientific and technological achievements of the working class.Shen Kuo repeatedly checked the accuracy of archival documents in his practical activities,and preserved and handed down the scientific and technological achievements of the working people through the compilation of archival documents,which made a theoretical summary and improvement of many scientific and technological inventions inherited to the Northern Song Dynasty.In his decades of official career,Shen Kuo has formed a large number of first-hand archives and advanced experience in the preservation and utilization of archives.As an important collection of ancient Chinese scientific and technological archives,MengXiBiTan,compiled in his later years,has pioneering academic significance.It can be seen that Shen Kuo’s archival literature thought has not formed a system,but has basically covered the basic process of modern archives management,and some methods have even begun to take shape of modern archives management technology.The prevalence of Shen Kuo’s cultural phenomenon can be traced back to his rich work experience and rich works.Judging from the existing achievements,the academic circles have increased the research on Shen Kuo’s thoughts in the fields of science and technology,politics,military,economy and so on.In order to fill the gap in the history of Archival Science in ancient China and conduct theoretical research on Shen Kuo’s works and thoughts from a new perspective,the author intends to integrate Shen Kuo’s rich academic achievements and historical documents related to Shen Kuo on the basis of historical records,comprehensively sort out Shen Kuo’s archival work practice in different periods,and restore the social background and official experience of his dynasty,This paper summarizes Shen Kuo’s life and his thoughts and actions in archives management.This paper discusses the development process and stages of Shen Kuo’s archival thought,summarizes the relevant academic contributions of Shen Kuo in the field of archives,and comprehensively summarizes and combs his archival thought.Through in-depth study and extensive quotation of his works,this paper explores Shen Kuo’s contribution to archives management from the ideological point of view.In order to enrich the research of Shen Kuo’s archival academic thought,explore the contemporary value of Shen Kuo’s archival thought,and promote the research of archival history.
