| Sino-US relations have entered a new phase after Donald Trump’s inauguration.His presidency and policies released after his inauguration have attracted the attention of people both in China and America.In 2018,Michael Wolff published his book Fire and Fury:Inside the Trump White House,summing up an unofficial story of Trump’s first year of his presidency,along with secrets between Trump and his staff in the White House.Once the book was released,it has aroused great attention.The translator was involved in the translation task of Chapter Three and Chapter Four of the book last year.Peter Newmark’s communicative translation is applied to solve the problems in the translation process.In the report,the translator firstly introduces the background and significance of the report.Secondly,the translator introduces the basic information of the source text and concludes its lexical features,syntactic features and textual features.Thirdly,the translator makes a systematic review of Newmark’s communicative translation and its applications and summarizes main features of communicative translation.Finally,under Newmark’s communicative translation,the translator analyzes the translation from three different aspects including lexical level,syntactic level,and textual level and comes to the conclusion.Under communicative translation,the translator found that at lexical level,annotation and paraphrase can be applied to make the allusions understandable.At syntactic level,linear translation and recasting can be applied to deal with long and complex sentences,meeting with the reading habits of readers.At textual level,amplification and omission can be applied to handle oral expressions,meeting with the expressing habits of readers.Through the report,the translator shares her translation practice under communicative translation,aiming to provide help for the translation of political biography. |
