| "Historical Records" is a treasure trove left by Sima Qian,a famous historian in the Western Han Dynasty,with his whole life.It is not only a perfect song of all historians,but also an unrhymed epic of national charm.As a work inherited from the past in ancient Chinese biographical literature,it has shaped a lot of figures,which having made a deep impression on people."General" is an important group of characters that cannot be ignored in "Historical Records".They are both commanders of war and witnesses of the changing history.In particular,the generals that emerged from the wars of the late Qin and early Han dynasties to Emperor Wudi formed a typical artistic image with the imprint of the times under the careful portrayal of Sima Qian.Studying the typical images of generals from different periods in the Western Han Dynasty in the "Historical Records" not only helps us to understand the character group in the "Historical Records" in a more detailed and in-depth manner,but also enables us to have a better understanding of the characterization methods in the "Historical Records".In addition to the introduction and conclusion,this article has been divided into four chapters.The first chapter mainly analyzes the image characteristics of the three major generals such as Han Xin,Qing Bu and Peng Yue who have made outstanding achievements in the founding of the Western Han Dynasty and Fan Kuai,Xia Houying,and Guan Ying who uprised with Liu Bang.The emphasis is on showing the outstanding contributions made by these generals in different aspects to the establishment of the Han Dynasty,as well as their shortcomings and different experiences due to the limitations of the times.The second chapter mainly analyzes the image characteristics of Zhou Yafu and Han Anguo,who made important contributions to calming down the rebellion of the Seven Kingdoms of Wu Chu.It mainly analyzes the different characteristics of the two in the use of troops and services,and their ups and downs in the court,which showing the ups and downs of their fate as imperial under the imperial power.The third chapter mainly analyzes the image characteristics of Wei Qing,Huo Qubing,and Li Guang during the Emperor Wudi ’ s period,making a deliberate comparison,which revealing the profound reasons why Li Guang had tragic fate but Wei Qing and Huo Qubing were able to make great achievements in fighting against the Huns.The fourth chapter mainly analyzes how Sima Qian shaped these generals in Han Dynasty.I think there are mainly three artistic methods used: selecting materials according to the needs of character portraying,side-setting through war description,and using contrast methods to highlight character characteristics. |
