Research On Generative Mechanism Of Cyber Public Opinion Violence From Multiple Interactive Construal Perspective

In the new media era,some media are keen on grabbing top news and high click count.They often deliberately ignore such basic principles as its authenticity and objectivity of news reports.The consequence brought by this is the frequent occurrence of cyber public opinion violence.This not only greatly threatens the ecological environment of the network,the social benefits,and the safety of the press.An investigation into the generation mechanism of cyber public opinion violence is conductive to make out feasible measures to reduce or avoid its appearance.At present,researches on cyber public opinion violence mainly center on studying its causes,features,and preventive methods from perspectives like Communics,Psychology,Sociology,Pedagogy,and Law,while,a micro explanation from linguistic and cognitive level garners less attention.In view of this,this study investigates the construal mechanism of cyber public opinion violence from Cognitive Linguistics.With the research objective as a guide,the paper builds a multiple interactive construal model as the theoretical framework.Six typical cyber public opinion violence events that happened in recent years are selected as cases to be analyzed.The paper collects related news reports and public texts in the “Zhiwei” database to establish a closed corpus and classifies six events into three periods,such as outbreak period,extended period,and subsiding period.Based on the immediate scope of the entire event,it has an analysis of the shift of immediate scope,the determination of focus,the selection of perspective,and the salience of event elements by the media.This helps further uncover the change of event participants,their behavior relations,and the evolution of the event,etc.And then this paper combines the observation of public texts to discuss the multiple interactive construal among the reality,the media,and the audience.The main conclusion of this study includes three points:First,this thesis researches on the generation mechanism of cyber publicopinion violence from perspectives of Cognitive Linguistics and Cognitive Communics.It steps efforts to reveal the multiple interactive relations among the reality,the media,and the audience.The case study and the comparative research of cases find that the generation of cyber public opinion violence cannot be separated from the media and the media interaction,the media’s interaction with the objective event,the interaction between the media and the audience,interaction between the audience,the audience’s interaction with the objective event,the media’s interaction with the new media environment,the audience’s interaction with the new media environment and so on.Second,this study tries to explore multiple construal and multi-layers misconstrual the objective event experienced in the communication process under the integration of Langacker’s construal theory and the embodied-cognitive view.It finds that,as for the same objective event under a certain social and cultural background,the media’s construal is affected by many factors,such as its organization benefits,audience demands,and attitude inclinations;while the audience’s construal is under the influence of their education degree,value concepts,stereotype,and other elements.This makes the authenticity of objective events gradually degrade into the media reality and the audience reality.Third,this research applies data visualization tools to make word frequency statistics and generate word clouds of three periods respectively.They can show the change of the media’s or the audience’s focus in different periods and increase the convenience and reliability of corpus analysis.What is expected is to provide some enlightenment and reference to later text analysis.
