Since the 1970 s,with the development and improvement of educational psychology, the focus of language pedagogy has shifted from how to teach to how to learn. Therefore, more and more scholars have realized the importance of individual differences among students. The learners’ perceptual learning styles,as one of the important factors of individual differences among students, have a significant impact on learning and teaching. This thesis mainly adopted the literature method, questionnaire and English achievement of high school students to conduct a correlation survey between high school students’ perceptual learning styles and English achievement. This study focuses on three issues:1.What are the characteristics of high school students’ perceptual learning styles?2.What are the differences of high school students’ perceptual learning styles?3.What is the relationship between high school students’ perceptual learning style and English learning achievement? This study uses the perceptual learning styles measurement table designed by Joy Reid(1984),which has a high reliability and is mainly divided into six dimensions: visual, tactile, auditory, kinesthetic, group and individual.A total of 200 questionnaires are distributed among students of four classes in senior high school in Huaxian County. This study also investigated the English achievements of high school students.SPSS22 was used for independent T test and Pearson correlation coefficient analysis. The following conclusions are made, first, high school students fall into various perceptual learning styles. The main perceptual learning styles in Grade one are arranged in order of tactile, group, auditory, kinesthetic, individual and visual perceptual learning style. The main perceptual learning styles in Grade three are arranged in order of tactile, group, kinesthetic, individual, auditory and visual perceptual learning style;tactile perceptual learning style is the main perceptual learning style for high school students;and visual perceptual learning style is the least perceptual learning style for high school students.Secondly, there is no significant difference in the visual, tactile, auditory, kinesthetic and individual perceptual learning styles of male and female high school students. In the group perceptual learning style, male and female students in Grade one have significant differences in group perceptual learning style.Female students in Grade one are more inclined to group perceptual learning style;boys and girls in Grade three have no significant differences in visual, tactile, auditory, group and kinesthetic perceptual learning styles;but boys and girls in Grade one have significant difference in individual perceptual learning style.Boys prefer individual perceptual learning style.Based on this research, this author provides the following suggestions for high school English teachers and students: First, respecting the diversity of students’ learning styles, teachers should understand the learning styles of students, teaching according to students’ learning characteristics, and actively match teaching styles with student learning styles to improve teaching efficiency;Second, students should be aware of the characteristics of their own learning styles, cultivate a variety of learning styles, and adjust learning strategies according to the characteristics of learning styles, enhance strengths and avoid weaknesses, improve learning efficiency, and meet the challenges of future learning. In addition, this study also has shortcomings, the sample size is small, and the statistical methods are not diverse.
