Memory is the memorization, maintaining, recognition and recollection of an individual’s experience.False memories occur when people mistakenly recall things they have never experienced,or they recall things that are not entirely consistent with their real experiences.Nowadays, there are more and more researches on the influencing factors of false memory in psychology. In the present study,we use the DRM paradigm to explore the perceptual load, cue and learning material’s impact on false memories.Experiment1 randomly selected 40 college students for the study, using 2(cue: effective and invalid)×2(learning material: wood and picture)×3(Project Type: learned word, lure key words and unrelated words)design for subjects. The study focus to explore the effects of cue and learning material types on false memory, also the interaction effects between cue and material. The results showed that:(1)When learning materials are pictures and words,it has no significant effect on correct memory and false memory of the subjects;(2)The false recognition rate of critical lures without cue is significantly higher than that with cue, namely, more false memories are induced without cue;(3)There is no significant difference in real memory with different cues;Experiment2 used 2(perceptual load: low, middle and high)×2(learning material: wood and picture)× 3(Project Type: learned word, lure key words and unrelated words)design for subjects. The study focus to explore the effects of perceptual load and learning material types on false memory, also the interaction effects between perceptual load and material. The results showed that:(1)There is a significant interaction of material type and perceptual load on real memory of subjects, and a marginal significant interaction on false memory;(2)The recognition rate of real memory of subjects decreases with the increase of perceptual load, and the recognition rate of false memory increases with the increase of perceptual load.Experiment3 combines cue with perceptual load on the basis of Experiment 1and experiment 2.Experiment3 used 2(cue: effective and invalid)× 2(perceptual load: low, middle and high)×2(learning material: wood and picture)×3(Project Type: learned word, lure key words and unrelated words)design for subjects. The study focus to explore the interaction effects between perceptual load and cue onfalse memory. The results showed that:(1)There is a significant interaction among material type, perceptual load and project type.(2)There is no significant interaction of cue and perceptual load on real memory, but a significant interaction on false memory.Without cue,the false memory increases with the increase of perceptual load, while there is no significant difference with cue.
