A Study Of Yang Yisun’s Seal Script

Yang Yisun,a famous scholar,poet and calligrapher in the Qing Dynasty,was good at seal writing.He studied Deng ShiRu in the atmosphere of the influence by the textual of QingJiaJinShi,and absorbed the writing techniques of Jinwen,Shiguwen and stele seal script of the two Han Dynasties,so as to mix the big seal and small seal naturally,thus creating a new path to form his own solemn and dignified personal style,which promoted the development of seal writing in the middle and late Qing Dynasty.Yang Yisun has also made some research in the study of ancient Chinese characters and exegetical phonology.He is a typical all-around calligrapher of practical theory,who has written such works as 《Guanzi Jinbian》,《literal explanation and error》,《The eassy of ZaiXi》.Yang Yisun’s seal script contains rich artistic language and research value.Firstly,this paper narrates the related factors(family background,Jinshi research and academic thought)around its artistic style and the reasons for its formation.Then,it is an important part of the paper.It discusses Yang Yisun’s creative concept and characteristics of its creative style.It uses the methods of plate demonstration and comparative research to conclude Body,writing,ink and other aspects of the analysis,and then explore its inheritance and breakthrough in seal practice.Secondly,the author analyzes his own creation of seal script based on Yang Yisun’s seal script,and puts forward his understanding and experience of temporary study of seal script.Finally,the author analyzes the development characteristics and tendency of contemporary seal script with the twelve sessions of seal script exhibition,and on this basis,puts forward the prospect of the creation of seal script in the future,with a view to providing a new enlightenment and influence for the study of seal script by the author and later scholars.
