Qiepu Village is administratively under the Luoen Village committee of Luoen Township,Honghe County,Honghe Prefecture. The local Hani people call themselves "xa??n??2",and the Hani language they use belongs to the Hani sub-dialect of the Ha-Ya dialect.Based on primary language materials and on the theories related to phonetics and phonology, this study systematically describes the tone system of Qiepu, and describes and analyzes the features of tone patterns and synchronic variation of Qiepu tone, synthesizing the relevant theories and research methods of experimental phonetics, sociolinguistics and phonetics. The paper is divided into four parts:The first chapter is the introduction. This chapter briefly introduces the geographical location, historical origin, dialect definition and other basic situation of Qiepu Village, introduces the content, purpose and significance of this study, summarizes the relevant research results, and explains the research methods, corpus sources and pronunciation partners of this paper. The second chapter is about the features of Qiepu Haniphonology. This chapter describes the phonology of Qiepu, and analyzes the characteristics of tone in monosyllables, disyllables, three syllables and four syllables, comparing Qiepu with the original Proto-Burmese-Yi tone system.Through investigation and analysis,it is found that there are 27 initials(including zero initials)and 17 finals in Qiepu. The tone system is has three tone categories: high, middle and low, similar to the standard Hani language, but Qiepu also has its own characteristics. The two most prominent characteristics are: 1)there exists neutralization of high and middle tones, that is,two tone categories are not contrastive in monosyllables and in the first syllable of disyllables.2)Tone sandhi patterns in disyllables are complex but also regular. The third chapter is the research on the tone pattern of Qiepu. This chapter is a further verification of the tone description in the second chapter.Taking the corpus obtained from the citation style form of the words read aloud as the research object, through the analysis of modern phonetic experimental methods and experimental results,it shows the tone pattern of Qiepu, more scientifically and objectively prove the particularity of the monosyllabic tone pattern and the complexity of the tone sandhi patterns in disyllables, which verifies the mother tongue speaker’s intuition, that is,there is neutralization in monosyllables and in the first syllable of disyllabic words, while the final syllable in disyllables displays the contrast of high, medium and low.The fourth chapter is the study of the synchronic variation of the tones in Qiepu dialect. In this chapter,39 speakers of Hani ethnic group in Qiepu village of Honghe are taken as the research object.By using the methods of tone normalization and linear mixed effect regression analysis, the synchronic variation characteristics of Qiepu tone in the two styles of word style and free style are explored, and the significant social factors of contour tone leveling are analyzed.Combined with the cross language comparative study and the case study of the tones in Qiepu,it is found that there is a great correlation between the tone flattening trend and the intergenerational differences, that is,contour tones flatten among younger speakers. The conclusion. This chapter summarizes the basic content, research results and value of the thesis, and also explains the need to further supplement the complete content and the direction of the next research.
