| Perception of time continuity and sequence is a necessary skill for individual survival and development.Perception of time refers to the perception of the order of things in tens to hundreds of milliseconds,which is the result of multiple influences of subjective and objective factors.Early researchers used non-time-meaningful graphics and numbers as the stimulus material for the experiment to examine the individual’s influence on temporal order perception.In recent years,scholars have paid more attention to the study of temporal order perception from a top-down perspective,and paid more attention to the impact of knowledge experience on temporal order perception..Among them,Chinese characters are the oldest characters,a unity of form,sound,and unity,and The structure of numbers,pinyin,and graphics is different.Chinese characters have a strong ideographic function.Individuals also have a complicated psychological process to recognize Chinese words characters.Therefore,this study intends to explore the influence of Chinese vocabulary on temporal order perception.The spatial-temporal association of response codes effect has confirmed that Chinese subjects have a left-to-right mental time line,but there is a lack of research evidence from temporal order perception.;moreover,there are right-to-left reading habits in China,such as couplets,and couplets are also upward Browse below.Therefore,the stimuli are presented in the horizontal and vertical directions of the screen to explore the influence of word semantics and spatial position on temporal order perception..Because some researchers believe that the temporal order judgement(TOJ task)and the simultaneity judgement(SJ task)measure different temporal cognitive processes,and compared with the simultaneity judgement,temporal order judgement are forced to choose.When subjects cannot determine the order of the stimuli,it is susceptible to the participant’s response strategy influence,resulting in reaction bias rather than the real sense of perception of time effect.In order to effectively eliminate this reaction bias,this study uses two research paradigms to conduct experiments.Study 1 uses the TOJ paradigm,explore the impact of word semantics and their spatial position on temporal order Including two small experiments;Experiment 1a presents the words in the vertical direction,using the experimental design of 3(word form: positive-order word,reverse-order word,false word)× 8(SOA:-90ms、-60ms、-30ms、-15ms、15ms、30ms、60ms、90ms),Participants were required to complete sequential judgment tasks;experiment 1b presented words in the horizontal direction and discussed the temporal order perception recognition of words by individuals in the horizontal direction;the dependent variable index is the correct rate of perception of time judgment.Study 2 uses the SJ paradigm to explore the impact of word semantics and their spatial position on simultaneous perception of time.Including two small experiments,presenting words in vertical and horizontal directions to discuss the simultaneity judgment of words simultaneously,using 3(word form: positive-order word,reverse-order word,false word)× 9(SOA:-5ms、-15ms、-25ms、-35 ms 、0ms、5ms、15ms、25ms、35ms)in the experimental design of the subject,the dependent variable index is the correct rate of perception of time judgment.This study yields the following research results:(1)Word semantics affect perception of time,mainly as follows: before semantic processing of words,individuals use sequential morpheme access model to identify the semantics of words in sequential temporal judgment tasks,while adopting simultaneous judgment tasks word access model to identify the semantics of words.(2)The spatial position of word presentation affects time series perception,which is mainly manifested in the following: the stimulus on the left side of the perception appears before the right stimulus in the horizontal direction,and the upper stimulus appears before the lower stimulus.Conclusion: The spatial temporal perception judgment of words is affected by the individual’s existing knowledge and experience,and the semantic processing of words occurs before the temporal processing. |
