Xichuan,with a long history and profound cultural accumulation,is located in the intersection of ancient southern and Northern cultures,.It not only contains the factors of Central Plains culture,but also is deeply influenced by Chu culture.The superior natural conditions in Xichuan makes the Chu tombs and funerary objects in Xichuan well preserved.According to the current statistics,nearly 400 Chu tombs have been excavated and tens of thousands of exquisite funerary objects have been unearthed in Xichuan area.It mainly including bronze ritual,weapons,chariots and horses,musical instruments,ceramics,jade materials and chariot and horse pits.These provides rich materials for the analysis of the historical status of Xichuan,the development of Chu culture in Xichuan,and the location of Danyang,the capital of early Chu.First of all,this paper analyzes the excavation of Chu tomb in Xichuan and the shape of the tomb.The shape of the tomb mainly includes the location and layout of the tomb,the earth sealing,the tomb path,the pit,the burial equipment,the location of the funerary objects,the pit of chariots and horses,the martyrdom and so on.According to the different materials,the funerary objects unearthed from the Chu tomb in Xichuan are divided into bronze,pottery,jade and stone and other objects,which are classified and summarized statistically.Secondly,the typical funerary objects unearthed from the Chu tomb in Xichuan,such as bronze ritual,imitation bronze pottery ritual and daily pottery,are analyzed by archeological typology.On this basis,combined with the bronze ritual ware,imitation bronze pottery ritual ware and daily pottery unearthed from the Chu tomb in Xichuan.This paper makes a comprehensive analysis of the archaeological cultural characteristics reflected in the Chu tomb in Xichuan in different periods,cemeteries and grades.At the same time,through the relationship between Xinyang Chu tomb,North Hubei Chu tomb,central Anhui Chu tomb and Xichuan Chu tomb.This paper analyzes the relationship between Xichuan Chu tomb and the surrounding Chu tomb.On the basis of comprehensive archaeological research,this paper discusses the changing characteristics and reasons of the status of Xichuan Chu tomb reflected by the level,scale and types of burial objects in different periods.Through the collation of the excavated archaeological data,the author found that the Chu tomb of Xichuan in different periods has different characteristics in the grade,scale,type,quantity and production process of the tombs,which reflects the evolution of Xichuan’s historical position to a certain degree.In the Spring and Autumn Period,the Chu tombs in Xichuan were mostly high-grade aristocratic tombs,and most of them were buried with bronzes,which reflects that as the political center of Chu in the Spring and Autumn Period,Xichuan has strong national strength and developed economy.However,the tombs in the Warring States Period were generally low in rank,with pottery being common funerary objects and bronzes being rare or rare.This also reflected that Xichuan’s political and economic had a slow development due to the long war between Qin and Chu during the Warring States Period,which in turn prompted the southward of the capital of Chu,leading to the southward forces contraction of Chu.
