Research On Poems For The Lantern Festival Under Dual Cultural Contexts:The Capital And Local

Poems for the Lantern Festival during the Northern Song Dynasty were written by intelligentsia of that time,the total number summed up to 200 poems.The content of poem included descriptions on ceremonies of the Lantern Festival in the capital of dynasty,feasts of the festival in various areas,as well as relating natural sceneries.They praised the emperor,sang their homesickness for the capital,the past of time and sighed for aging of themselves.These poems rich in both content and emotion,reflect features of the capital and local vary on the location of composing.These poems are important literatures that poetically unfold the panorama of the Lantern Festival of the Northern Song Dynasty,they are also valuable materials for researching emotions of peoples from different social background and different places in that time.There are mainly five parts in this dissertation.The first part is introduction.It first introduces the research status of poems for the Lantern Festival and the history of its research.By pointing out the insufficiencies of current researches,it can be thought that analyzing the mood for festival and aesthetic of intelligentsia of the Northern Song Dynasty by categorizing poems based on capital cultural contexts and local one is possible.Then it mainly defines the conceptions of poems for the Lantern Festival,the capital and local.In the end researching method will be explained.The second part is about the origination of the Lantern Festival as well as its historical development.Utilizing relating historical materials and literatures,this dissertation affirms the crucial effect of customs that people adhered on fifteen of the first month of lunar year during the Northern and Southern Dynasties and Buddhist ritual of burning lamp on the formulation of the Lantern Festival.In this part the time when the Lantern Festival formally took shape is established,and the reasons why the Lantern Festival could prosperous during the Northern Song Dynasty are analyzed.The third part is statistics and classification on poems for the Lantern Festival.Based on the places where poems were composed,which were ascertained by refereeing on anthologies of poets and method of textual research,poems are classified into capital poems and local poems.Characteristics of poems for the festival from different areas are analyzed by styles of poems.The fourth part analyzes capital poems for the Lantern Festival.It first characterizes the features of festival in the capital under the influence of capital culture,and presents the grandeur of the capital during the Lantern Festival.Then it discovers the way of interactions between the emperor and officials,emperor and common subjects,as well as the impact of this kind of way of interaction,and which is done by researching on the content of poems.Intelligentsia in the capital and the expressing of the past of time and aging of themselves in poems are analyzed,along with the causes of those expressions.The fifth part is on the analyzing of local poems for the Lantern Festival.It depicts the picture of the Lantern Festival outside the capital from two respects of Lanterns and comparatively less hot atmosphere based on content of poem.Then it researches the trend of homesickness for the capital in local poems based on historical materials.In the end,relationship between carefree mood in the poem and aesthetic of intelligentsia of the Northern Song Dynasty will be explored.
