"Jie Huang Gu" is one of the most important temple fairs in Guangnan County,Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Autonomous Prefecture,Yunnan Province,especially in Taiping Village.It was formed in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasty.On the one hand,it is a ritual to commemorate Princess Anhua,the sister of the last emperor in Ming Dynasty.On the other hand,it represents people’s aspiration for a peaceful and happy life.People regard Huang Gu as one of the most important local gods.There are many folktales about Huang Gu and the temple is full of the incense.The ceremony lasted for over 300 years.People held it quietly during the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution.Now it is recognized as one of the intangible cultural heritages of Yunnan Province.I take fieldwork as the most important method through the whole study.I analyze the culture background of the folk belief from a macroeconomic viewpoint.At the micro level,this paper analyzes the complicated relationship between the historical legends and sacrificial rituals.The conclusion is that: the belief of Huang Gu in Guangnan is accumulated on the basis of rice civilization,primitive religion and Mo culture of the Zhuang ethnic group,and also influenced by Taoism.The historical legends about Huang Gu contain the people’s unique ethnic memory and identity concept.Legends and rituals support each other,both of them complete the practice and construction of the folk belief.When we safeguard “Jie Huang Gu” as an intangible cultural heritage,we should follow the law of folk belief,take advantage of the cooperation between the government and the people,take the will of culture subject into account seriously and let the cultural heritage return back into the ordinary life.
