An Analysis Of Women’s Roles In The New Kingdom Of Ancient Egypt

Women group play very important roles in both ancient and modern society when compared to males.In fact,only in the modern society,with the improvement of women’s participation in the field of production and life,the vigorous feminist movement develops.From the discovery of women’s roles to the redefinition of women until the emergence of gender studies,the feminist movement experienced three waves.Until then,women,who make up half the sex ratio,had been relegated to an irrelevant position,and the freedoms,property and rights that historians and the masses were keen to discuss seemed to focus solely on men.Women’s voices and appeals,even their names,are rarely recorded,and bearing children and serving their husbands seem to be their natural position in life,which constitutes the historical record’s natural inclination toward men.On this question,it seems that the ancient Egyptians were an accident,obsessed with dualistic philosophy.Their writing was masculine and feminine,they divided the earth into desert and black earth,and most of their gods had an opposite-sex spouse.For a long time,quite a few scholars at home and abroad have been inclined to discuss the social status of women in ancient Egypt.The author does not attempt to give a direct answer to this question.Based on ancient materials,such as original documents and archaeological remains,this paper analyzes the role of women in the family and society in ancient Egypt,hoping readers have a preliminary understanding of the living conditions of ancient Egyptian women.In order to make our analysis in-depth and comprehensive,the author chose the time in the new kingdom period of the imperial era,since we have a wealth of archaeological and documentary materials for this period which is convenient for our research.On the question of whether the status of women in ancient Egypt was high or low,people can judge according to their own criteria.
