The Textual Exegesis On Name And Description And Religious Culture Study Of The Book Of Songs·Shangsong·Xuanniao

The Book of Songs·Shangsong·Xuanniao is the third piece of the five pieces of extant Shangsong,which is generally believed to be used to offer sacrifices to Emperor Gaozong Wu Ding.A large quantity of study had been done on it by scholars.However,firstly,most of the scholars regarded the five pieces of Shangsong as a whole,and it was rare to study Xuanniao alone.Secondly,although some breadth and depth were shown in the previous study on Xuanniao,some inadequancies are still left,especially the textual exegesis on name and description and the religious concepts of Xuanniao,which can be further discussed.On the basis of reference to previous studies,these aspects are mainly discussed in this paper.The full text is divided into three chapters:The firstchapter is a textual exegesis on name and description of Shangsong·Xuanniao.The names and descriptions such as “Xuanniao”,“Sifang”,“Qi”,“Xi”,“Sihai” and “Jing” are textual studied and interpreted according to historical records and the latest study results in the academic domain,so as to deepen the understanding of the poem “Xuanniao”.The second chapter is the original religious concept in Shangsong·Xuanniao,the first part of which is “the totem of‘Xuanniao’ and the ethnic group of Shang Dynasty”.Based on archaeological data and documentary records,it is discussed that “Xuanniao” is the common totem of the ethnic group of Shang Dynasty,sub-ethnic group and later sub-ethnic group.The second part is "the evolution track and connotation of the induced myth of “Xuanniao produced Shang Dynasty”.In this part,the evolution track from simple to rich of the myth of “Xuanniao produced Shang Dynasty” from “the Book of Songs”,“the Songs of Chu”,“Master Lv’s Spring and Autumn Annals” to “Records of the Historian·the Yin Dynasty” is sorted out.Then,this phenomenon gradually enriched in details in the process of spreading is discussed,which actually shows the historical process of the evolution of Shang Dynasty society from matriarchal society to patrilineal society in the early period.The third chapter is “the Mandate of Heaven and Sacrifice of Shangsong·Xuanniao”.The first part of this chapter discusses the “Emperor is Mandated by heaven” expressed in Shangsong·Xuanniao and holds that there is actually a political metaphor for the legitimacy of the rule of Shang Dynasty ancestors in poetry;the second part discusses the “Sacrifice of Gaomei” in Shangsong·Xuanniao.
