| English writing,as one of the five skills of listening,speaking,reading,writing and viewing,is always an important part in English teaching.However,due to various reasons,the English writing level of senior high school students in China is not optimistic,and students often make all kinds of errors in English composition writing,some of which even appear repeatedly.Which teaching strategies can be used to correct the errors of senior high school students’ English writing effectively and improve their English writing ability has become a key issue in senior high school English teaching.Based on the error analysis theory and cooperative learning theory,after systematically sorting out the relevant research at home and abroad,this study analyzes the English writing of the students in grade two of Beijing R senior high school,classify students’ English writing errors and put forward the corresponding teaching strategies.From October 2019 to January 2020,the author works as an English teacher in two parallel classes with 40 students in each class in the second grade of the school.The author uses questionnaire,interview,test as research instruments.By adopting the combination of qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis method,students’ midterm and final examination compositions are analyzed and errors are classified.The author analyzes the causes of errors from the perspectives of students,teachers,and language transfer,etc.,and improve experimental class’ English writing teaching from the writing knowledge,writing course and normal course three aspects.The control class still adopts the same traditional English teaching methods as before the experiment.By comparing the writing results of the two classes after teaching experiment,the effectiveness of the teaching strategies would be verified.This thesis aims to answer the following three questions: First,what errors do senior high school students often make in English writing? Second,what are the causes of English writing errors of senior high school students? Third,how to correct students’ English writing errors effectively?The results of research show that the errors students often make in English writing mainly include verb errors,complex sentence errors,Chinglish errors,noun errors and simple sentence errors.The main causes of the errors are student’s writing attitude;student’s writing habits;negative interlingual transfer;negative intralingual transfer and negative effect of product-focused approach.According to the types of errors and their causes,the author adopts the following teaching strategies: Firstly,introducing the error classification,grading criteria,cooperative learning and learning approach.Secondly,adopting the cooperative teaching method combined with error analysis in writing course.Thirdly,using topic teaching,vocabulary teaching and grammar teaching in normal course.After the three-month teaching experiment,the post-test result shows that the writing errors in the experimental class are significantly lower than those in the control class,and the writing scores are significantly higher than those in the control class.Based on the above findings,this thesis puts forward several pedagogical implications for English writing teaching.First,reinforcing students’ basic knowledge.Second,cultivating students’ learning habit.Third,adopting cooperative teaching.Fourth,emphasizing writing standard.Fifth,focusing on knowledge transfer.Sixth,stimulating students’ interest. |
