With the continuous deepening of the new curriculum reform under quality-oriented education,reading as the key link and crucial task to cultivate and improve students’ reading ability in English teaching,more effective English teaching researches has great importance.So researchers tried to combine the theory with teaching practice in English reading instruction effectively to improve students’ reading ability.Scaffolding Instruction,one of teaching model based on the concept of constructivism,has gradually become an important topic of foreign language instruction.This study is committed to exploring how to apply Scaffolding Instruction Mode to middle school reading class,and then analyze and discuss whether the Scaffolding Instruction Mode can enhance students’ score and autonomous learning ability.Scaffolding Instruction Mode is one of the core concepts of teaching modes under the concept of constructivism.It was originated from the theory of the “Zone of Proximal Development” which was created by famous Soviet Union psychologist Vygotsky.This study takes the Grade nine students in Hangzhou Road middle school as research subject.Through the questionnaire、observational method、 and interviewing method,the English reading status of students in Grade one and teachers’ attitude of Scaffolding Instruction Mode of this junior middle school are known.Then,on the basis of the analysis of students,the Scaffolding Instruction Mode is adopted for the experimental class.The author record the comparative analysis’ s data of the experimental class’ test scores of reading and result of questionnaire.And the author analysis the data scientifically by SPSS.Hoping to give some effective evidence to the acceleration of students’ reading score and autonomous learning ability.This research result show that the Scaffolding Teaching Model can effectively improve the students’ English reading score and the students’ autonomous learning ability.
