The overseas promotion of Chinese culture is one of the most significant performances of enhancement of the Chinese comprehensive national strength,and English is an important tool for overseas promotion of Chinese culture.Although the curriculum reform puts forward the requirement of focusing on spreading the Chinese civilization,but “Chinese Culture Aphasia” is still ubiquitous among senior high school students.The main purpose of this paper is to study the reasons of "Chinese Culture Aphasia" in Senior High School from various perspectives and to offer some feasible proposals.Based on the theory of Influence Factor of Culture Teaching,Intercultural Communication and Input and Output Theory,this paper mainly discusses the following two questions:(1)why does the “Chinese Culture Aphasia” come into being in the senior high school?(2)what are the strategies of improving the “Chinese Cultural Aphasia”? In the research,the author adopts text analysis,questionnaire survey and interview to systematically explore the causes of cultural aphasia in Senior High School from the various perspectives of learning resources,students and teachers.After comparing research data,the author finds out that:(1)the proportion of culture in teaching materials is out of balance and the cultural learning resources in and out of class are limited;(2)learning objectives deviate from the original plans and their internal motivations for learning Chinese culture are weak;(3)the teachers’ Chinese cultural knowledge is insufficient and their Oral English is poor.The three reasons which cause cultural aphasia are very important.For the above reasons,the article puts forward three suggestions:(1)integrating curriculum resources,strengthening comparative study in and out of class,and improving learning resources;(2)adopting multiple teaching in the different stages is able to stimulate students’ learning interests and to improve their initiatives;(3)arranging for further education and training to promote the knowledge reserves of Chinese culture. |
