| At present,the academic research on the films directed by Guan Hu mainly focuses on the characters,artistic style,narrative structure and skills,postmodernism and black humor,etc.However,it is still blank to conduct a comprehensive research based on Bakhtin’s carnival theory.As the sixth generation of directors with unique style,Guan Hu’s films show the characteristics of laugh and tease,parody,uncrowned,hybridity and the core spirit of subversion,catharsis,alternation and renewal,death and rebirth contained in Bakhtin’s carnival theory in narrative language,character language,character image,type and theme.Therefore,it can be concluded that Guan Hu’s films have distinct carnival color.First of all,most of the characters in Guan Hu’s movies have carnival temperament.They often break away from the convention in appearance,words and deeds,thoughts and feelings and present themselves as carnival-like characters in opposition to official consciousness.Secondly,Guan Hu used a variety of carnival artistic techniques to enrich the film expression,and was especially good at using mixed space-time,transcendental narrative perspective,parody techniques and "square" lively scenes to participate in the narrative.He also used a large number of dialects,vulgar words and black humorous dialogues to increase the carnival of the movie lines,making his films have the characteristics of a mixture of joy,terror,absurdity and suspense,thus constructing an artistic system with both seriousness and commerciality.Thirdly,the carnival in Guan Hu’s movies is not an absurd farce.Behind the carnival,it reflects the subversion of the stale order,the concern for the marginalized and vulnerable groups,and the tolerance for the individual’s free expression of psychology.Finally,the spirit of "carnival" in Guan Hu’s films is also unique in essence,which is a carnival in which Dionysus dances with death,love and death mingle,tragedy and comedy coexist. |
