After the establishment of the imperial examinations in the Yuan dynasty,Korea sent their scholars to the Yuan to take part in the imperial examinations in order to follow the imperial edicts and enhance the cultural exchanges between the two countries.Li Gu was a scholar who came from Korea in Yuan dynasty,took actively part in the imperial examinations in Yuan dynasty under the social background of relatively stable relations between Korea and Yuan dynasty,and The Yuan dynasty advocated Confucianism.He had served in the historical and cultural institutions of Yuan dynasty,got acquainted with a large number of literary circles leader,between each other poem article rewards sing,go out together,make friends had improved his literary level and reputation.During his entry into Yuan dynasty,he had frequently contacted with Korean monks,which changed his understanding of Buddhism.Through the reflection on the loyalty and filial deeds of historical figures,and the contacted with the loyalty and filial behavior of the staffs who entered the Yuan residence guard,He formed his own view of loyalty and filial piety.As a envoy,Li Gu had been backed and forthed between Yuan and Korea for many times,and made certain contributions to the cultural exchange between Yuan and Korea.
