| In 1860’s,Whistler began to contact with oriental art, focusing more on the exploration of form, weakening the narrative of painting, such as highlighting the shape, line, color and other modeling elements in the night scene creation and portrait of characters, and emphasizing the musicality in painting, which in a sense opened the way of western modern painting. After Whistler’s painting entered the mature period, the musical painting language was his striking mark among contemporary painters. This paper will try to start with the characteristics and evolution of the painter’s painting language, sort out his creation context and aesthetic background, explore how his painting gradually changes from three-dimensional space to two-dimensional plane composition of shape, line and color,so as to develop his own musical painting language, analyze the characteristics of his formal language by using the theory of artistic synaesthesia(the accommodation of vision and hearing),and re experience Huis’ s Paintings.Whistler’s art of painting emphasizes the importance of formal language, but it does not go to extreme abstraction. It is always within the framework of realism. His study and Research on realistic painting, the integration of eastern and Western art elements, and personal painting creation are of great inspiration. |
