A Study On Application Of Peer Feedback To English Writing Teaching In Junior High School

Writing as one of the basic skills of English reflects students’ comprehensive ability to use language.However,there are some problems in English writing teaching at junior high school.Peer feedback is an important topic in Second Language Writing and its role has been confirmed by many studies.According to analyzing the studies of peer feedback,the paper finds that this subject has the following three tendencies.Firstly,the trend of research method is diversified.Secondly,there will be more researches on secondary school.Thirdly,research fields involve comparative and combining studies on multiple feedbacks,and studies on students’ writing interest,confidence and ability of thinking.So in order to explore availability and feasibility of peer feedback,this study applies it to English writing in junior high school.This study intends to answer the following three questions:(1)What’s the influence of peer feedback on students’ English writing level?(2)What’s the influence of peer feedback on students’ writing interest and confidence?(3)What’s the students’ attitude towards peer feedback?This thesis consists of five parts including preface,literature review,research methods and design,findings and discussion,and conclusion.This study chooses 88 students as research subjects who are from two parallel classes in the second grade of junior high school in Liaocheng.There are 43 students in the experimental class and45 students in the control class.Researcher randomly assigns two classes as experimental and control classes.The author adopts peer feedback in the experimental class while the teacher feedback in control class.This study adopts experiment,questionnaire and interview to collect the research data.And the author uses SPSS23.0 to analyze the date of the two classes.After 16 weeks of teaching experiment,the following conclusions are drawn in this study.Firstly,peer feedback can improve students’ writing ability.Reading and discussing the writing of others have a positive impact on students’ writing.And students can learn a lot during the process of comparison with teacher’s feedback.Secondly,the peer feedback not only stimulates students’ enthusiasm,but also improves students’ interest and confidence in English writing.Thirdly,students have a positive attitude towards peer feedback after the experiment.At the same time,this study has drawn four suggestions on English writing teaching.Firstly,teachers should change the concept of writing teaching actively.And teachers should promote the diversity of evaluation subjects and methods to achieve better effect of feedback.Secondly,peer feedback should be combined with teacher feedback in English writing teaching.Thirdly,the implementation of peer feedback should be based on feedback training.Fourthly,teachers play an important role in peer feedback.
