| Euphemism is a typical socio-linguistic phenomenon with distinctive cultural characteristics.Teaching Chinese euphemism to foreign students not only involves language teaching,but also promotes the spread of Chinese culture and assists international students in higher-level crosscultural communication.However,the academic circles have not paid enough attention to euphemism teaching in teaching Chinese to foreigners.Because Chinese euphemisms are large in number,complex in semantics,and rich in cultural connotations,they have also become a major difficulty for teachers and students.Whether the acquisition level of euphemism is affected by the learner’s cultural background,how teachers can effectively improve euphemism teaching methods and improve the quality of euphemism teaching all require more in-depth research.Based on the Acculturation Model,this article aims to study the influence of cultural background and cultural adaptation on euphemism learning effects of foreign students,discuss how to make second language learners adapt to cultural differences in the process of Chinese euphemism learning,improve foreign cultural literacy and communicative competence in language.The article first clarifies the important position of euphemism teaching in teaching Chinese to international students,analyzes the close relationship between cultural factors and Chinese euphemisms,and elaborates the necessity for foreign students to learn Chinese euphemisms.Then,through questionnaire surveys and test papers for international students in China,combined with interviews with foreign students,the status,problems,and causes of problems of learning euphemisms are viewed from the perspective of cultural adaptation.Finally,starting from the problems that the learners have when learning Chinese euphemisms,the author puts forward her opinions and suggestions from the three aspects of textbooks,teachers,and learners,so as to provide a constructive reference for continuously improving and advancing the teaching of euphemisms in teaching Chinese to foreign students. |
