The Study Of Image Space By Peter Greenaway

Peter Greenaway has been called the most ambitious and controversial of directors,with the slogan "film is dead".With the coming of digital age,the discussion of film ontology is more and more urgent.Such an avant-garde director began to think about the essence of "film" as early as in his image creation.This paper analyzes and summarizes Greenaway’s works from the perspective of image space.This paper mainly starts from the form,content and new media art of Greenaway’s image works,and combines relevant spatial theories to summarize and study his works.This paper is mainly divided into five parts.The first chapter is the introduction.Starting from the purpose and significance of the research,it discusses the necessity of the study of greenway and image space.From the perspective of theoretical framework,the research status at home and abroad is discussed in terms of dimensions.The brief introduction of Greenaway’s life course and works in stages is the focus of the first chapter.His creation stage is mainly divided into preparation stage,creation stage and expression stage,which correspond to the early creation of experimental short films,the image language practice of feature films and the free expression stage of artistic creation of image space language.The second chapter is the presentation of the visual effects in Greenaway’s images,which is an overall display with a strong sense of form.This paper analyzes the various forms of the picture frame,the spatial movement of the camera in the image,the multidimensional construction of the scene space,and the guiding function of light and shadow colors,so as to form the overall image space style.The third chapter is based on the content of Greenaway’s works and establishes the coordinates of interpretation--to extend the space of text,representation and screen on the axis of content and space.With its symbolic symbols corresponding to Numbers and letters,the confrontation between the real world and the virtual space,and the theme,this paper interprets its meaning in combination with the cultural context of the film,deeply analyzes Greenaway’s philosophical thinking on sex and death,and emphasizes the core elements of his recombination of image space.Chapter iv image space by creating new language elements,under the bold avant-garde ideas,explore images in painting,such as body,building and the new media art fusion,analyzes its performance in image space to create new medium of language,way,etc.,and summed up his pursuit of aesthetic image space,let the film in the context of the creation of the Greenaway present a new art space.Chapter five is a summary of the three core arguments.
