The Current Situation,problems And Countermeasures Of Private English Training Institutions ——A Case Study Of Wuhan City

With the rise of income and the emphasis on education,citizen’s investment in education is increasing.Due to the economic globalization,the importance of English has been enhanced,which stimulates citizen’s urgent demand for English education resources and promotes the rapid development of English training industry in the recent30 years.In recent years,the rapid expansion and growth of private English training institutions have given rise to many problems in this field.Studying the problems of this industry,analyzing the causes and solutions are essential for the development of private English training institutions.In this study,interviews with 15 employees and 10 students of English training institutions in Wuhan have been conducted with qualitative research method.After transcribing the 25 recordings,relevant information is coded and classified.The research results show that private English training institutions generally have these six types of problems: interest-oriented mode of running schools,prominent curriculum problems,diversified management problems,low salary of employees,limited room for improvement,uneven professional degree of employees and low service quality.The causes of these problems are as follows: Government,weak supervision and lack of supervision and guidance from industry associations.Social environment,a surge in demand and lack of centralized and brand development in the industry.The English training institutions,a low qualification standard for novices,a lack of professional training,backward teaching concepts and methods,and a lack of innovation in courses.Finally,based on the problems of private English training institutions and their related causes,this paper gives the following four suggestions for promoting the sound development of private English training institutions.First,the relevant departments should perfect the management scheme,clarify the qualifications of starting an institution,develop a price supervision system and provide institutions with policy support.Second,the function of the industry association should be strengthened so as to encourage the industry resources sharing and establish communication between the institutions and consumers.Third,institutions should standardize the employment and the government should protect the rights of practitioners.Fourth,institutions should attach more importance to research and innovation on courses.
