This paper is an interpretation practice report,which is based on escort interpreting around the Military School.It mainly introduces the relics in the military school and the development and historical background of the military academies in China.Under the guidance of Schema Theory,this paper discusses some common problems and solutions in escort interpreting and consecutive interpreting.Based on the sino-foreign friendly exchange,foreign students and the interpreter visited the army school.The event greatly promoted the understanding of Chinese history among foreign students and laid a foundation for the friendly exchanges between China and other countries in the future.The interpretation practice was divided into two parts: one was consecutive interpretation,introducing the army lecture hall;The latter part was escort interpreting,which was easy and casual.In the early stage of introducing military development and displaying cultural relics,the author was faced with the dilemma of many professional terms related to military.In the early stage of preparation,the author has accumulated military knowledge and maximized the meaning of what the speaker wanted to express to the listener.In order to make this communication smooth,and to deal with the omission,especially the substitution,the speaker can use prediction,decoding,short-term memory and other ways to eliminate the influence of accent,and professional vocabulary difficulties.By doing so,the interpreter can better convey the speaker’s meaning and underlying cultural connotation to the listener.In addition,this practice report is of practical significance to the test and development of schema theory for consecutive interpreting and listening practice,and can also provide reference for personnel and scholars studying the development of military schools in China.
