Mimetic-the Dimension Of Rational Salvation In Irration

From Descartes’ s "I think,therefore I am" to Hegel’s "absolute spirit",reason has been reflecting on itself along with the development of society.As a strong support for the progress of human civilization,rational way of thinking has brought not only the development of science and technology,but also many problems to human society,It also poses a major threat to the basic survival of human beings and nature.In order to explore the relationship between mimetic and reason,Adorno made a detailed distinction between mimetic and reason.Reason is divided into enlightenment rason and instrumental reason,and mimetic is divided into real mimetic and false mimetic.Instrumental reason is the dominant mode of thinking in modern industrial society.It not only brings convenience to human industrial life,but also dominates human spiritual and cultural life.The most serious impact is the loss of human’s dominant position,which leads to people’s thinking on instrumental reason.Adorno also believes that the instrumental reason established since the Enlightenment has gone to its opposite side,but it is not the problem of excessive development of reason,but the lack of reason development trend,which needs further rationality to develop to real reason.At the beginning,mimetic is the way that the original people use to deal with alien things.By making themselves similar to the surrounding environment and suitable for nature,they can obtain self-sustaining.This is the instinctive response of human to nature and the original mimetic.When the mimetic has consciousness,first the myth stage establishes the organized operation of the mimetic,then the rational practice,the human civilization obtains the great development;but the mimetic in this stage is the metamorphic mimetic,which becomes the false projection.The mimetic of this stage requires that the environment is similar to itself,that is,nature is abstracted into the imagination of nature and self,and the purpose of controlling nature is achieved through self-control.In this process,both human and nature lose their original appearance and exist in a specific mode.This stage of human civilization cannot be separated from the dominance of instrumental reason.It is necessary for Adorno’s mimetic and rational potential to transcend the first two stages,which can not damage human beings and nature,but also return to the original relationship between human beings and nature.To reexplore the internal relationship between mimetic and reason is not to regard mimetic and reason as two completely unrelated categories to establish their relationship from the outside,but to see the internal unity of mimetic and reason.Reason itself contains mimetic factors,and mimetic always presents itself in a rational way.Any attempt to give up mimetic completely or to give up reason completely is wrong.If we give up mimetic completely,there will be rational hegemony;if we give up rationality completely,then reason will shrink.Adorno thinks that in the modern times with the rapid development of rationalism,in order to break the solidification of rationality,we must rely on the factors of "Irrationality",the essence of "Irrationality" is to enrich the connotation of rationality,extend the boundary of rationality,and correct rationality with the factors of irrationality.In Adorno’s view,the factors of irrationality are mimetic.Adorno pointed out that art is a kind of mimetic,which absorbs and utilizes real rational thinking.The real rational thinking retains the irrational mimetic content,and the real art works also have the non identical thinking,which can transcend the real society and have the potential of social criticism.In terms of the current situation of art development,modern art has the real elements of art because of its subversion of traditional art: modern art not only changes the traditional aesthetic feeling,gives people a sense of discord,but also stimulates people’s questioning attitude,and reflects on the existing social order,so he places the hope of rational salvation on modern art.That is to say,art bears the function of secular salvation and provides people with a possibility to transcend from daily life.Therefore,in-depth study of Adorno’s simulation theory plays an important role in the study of Adorno’s negative aesthetics and critical theory.As a shining star of Adorno’s constellation aesthetics,Adorno’s simulation theory provides an opportunity to re-examine the traditional aesthetics,and also opens up the possibility to face up to the contemporary social crisis and find solutions to the crisis.
