| Anxiety about music performance can affect the individual’s level of musical performance,leading to music majors having to give up music-related careers,and a considerable number of professional musicians quitting their jobs.The influencing factors of musical performance anxiety mainly include the interaction between genes and environment,personality factors and social cognition.Facial emotion recognition is one of the components of social cognition and a key element of social behavior and interaction.Numerous studies of anxiety disorders and facial emotion recognition have shown that people with anxiety disorders tend to be better at recognizing threatening or disapproving faces and negative facial emotions.However,there are few studies on music performance anxiety and social cognition.Exploring the relationship between music performance anxiety and social cognition plays an important role in understanding the current situation of anxiety of college students majoring in music and providing effective psychological intervention for those with high level of music performance anxiety.Kenny Music Performance Anxiety Inventory,an effective inventory for assessing music performance anxiety,was developed by professor Kenny,an Australian scientist,with good reliability and validity.At present,it has been translated into many languages and widely used in alphabetic writing,but there is no professional Chinese translation and revision of this questionnaire in China.Based on the translation and revision of the Chinese version of Kenny music performance anxiety scale,this study explores the influence of music performance anxiety on facial emotion recognition of college students majoring in music.Study1:In two music universities located in Shaanxi province,700 music undergraduates were selected to evaluate the Kenny music performance anxiety Inventory.645 valid questionnaires were collected,and 70 people were randomly selected from the total sample for re-testing after four weeks.54 valid Inventories were collected.Its validity was evaluated by exploratory factor analysis,correlation analysis and criterion validity analysis index,and its reliability was evaluated by internal consistency analysis.The results showed that:(1)In Item Analysis,the second question was deleted,and the correlation between other items and the total score reached the significance level;(2)Exploratory factor analysis、confirmatory factoranalysis and criterion validity analysis show that the revised Kenny Music Performance Anxiety Inventory has good validity;(3)The reliability of the total scale and its subscales indicates that the revised Kenny Music Performance Anxiety Inventory has good reliability.Study 2:A total of 89 college students were recruited in xi’an Conservatory of Music,among whom 20 had high level of music performance anxiety and 26 had low level of music performance anxiety.This study mainly investigated whether music performance anxiety affects the facial emotion recognition ability of college students majoring in music.The results showed that:(1)The accuracy of the high music performance anxiety was lower than that of the low music performance anxiety;(2)There was a significant difference in the response of the music performance anxiety group to the recognition of happy emotion;(3)The high music performance anxiety group was more likely to misidentify facial emotions as sad than the low music performance anxiety group.The conclusions are as follows:(1)The Chinese version of Kenny Music Performance Anxiety Inventory has good reliability and validity,and is an effective tool to evaluate the performance anxiety of music college students.(2)People with high music performance anxiety had a defect in facial expression recognition compared with those with low music performance anxiety. |
