| With the development of social economy and the improvement of medical treatment,the population aging has become a global concern.China has one of the largest and fastest growing aging populations in the world.Scientific diet structure can significantly delay senility and improve the quality of life of the elderly.Nowadays,with the improvement of our economy and living standards,people are pursuing a high quality of life,especially in diet and health care.Steven R Gundry’s The Longevity Paradox:How to Die Young at A Ripe Old Age tells us that the bacteria that live inside of us and make up our microbiome,largely determine our health.This is an innovative view of medicine.At the same time,the author suggests nutrition and lifestyle programs that support gut health,which will help us maintain a good quality of life.At present,there are few translations of popular science works on gut health in China.Therefore,the translation of such texts does carry certain academic and practical value.Guided by Peter Newmark’s communicative translation,this report focuses on the translation strategies of popular science texts.In addition to the introduction and conclusion,this report consists of four chapters.The first chapter describes the translation task,which mainly introduces the source of the text,the characteristics of the text and the corresponding research background and significance.The second chapter is the task process description,including pre-translation preparation,translation process and quality control.The third chapter is the case study,which is the core of the whole report.Under the guidance of communicative translation,it discusses the strategies and methods of translating popular science texts from the perspectives of lexical,syntactic and discourse.The fourth chapter is a summary of the translation practice,summing up the author’s experience in the translation process,and pointing out the unresolved problems in the entire translation task.It is hoped that this report can provide some references for the translation of popular science texts on diet health in the future. |
