| According to the 2011 China Mental Health Survey,mood disorders and anxiety disorders accounted for 6.47%and 4.54%,respectively,at 50-64 years old,and mood disorders and anxiety disorders at age 65 and above accounted for 4.7%and 3.9%,respectively.The prevalence of the above-mentioned middle-aged and older people is much higher than that of people under the age of 35.In the past,more researches have focused on the attitudes of college students towards psychological barriers and professional psychological assistance.However,China has gradually entered an aging society.Middle-aged and elderly people have become an important part of social groups.What are their attitudes toward psychological barriers and professional psychological assistance?Is it different from young people?The purpose of this study is to understand the professional psychological help-seeking attitude and the stigma of psychological barriers among middle-aged and elderly people,and to compare with the existing college students’ data to explore the professional psychological help-seeking attitude and psychological barrier stigma between population variables.The difference.This study used middle-aged and older people over the age of 40 as the research object,and distributed questionnaires on the social platform such as WeChat by snowballing.A total of 452 questionnaires were distributed and 311 valid questionnaires were returned,with an effective recovery rate of 68.8%.There were 170 males(54.7%)and 141 females(45.3%);58.5%were between 41-50 years old,29.3%were 51-60 years old,7.4%were 61-70 years old,and 4.8%were over 70 years old.Using the Perceived Deviation Discrimination Scale(PDDS)to measure public stigma and self-stigma,the professional psychological help attitude scale(ATSPPH-SF)was used to measure professional psychological help-seeking attitudes,and compared with previous research results for college students.Get the following results:(1)More than 30%of middle-aged and elderly people do not know whether they and their surrounding people have had psychological problems.They do not know whether they and their surrounding people have received psychological counseling,indicating the lack of mental health knowledge among middle-aged and elderly people.(2)Middle-aged and older people score higher on the psychological barrier stigma(public stigma=35.91 ± 5.14,self-pollution=8.83±2.09),in which the public stigma score is significant(p<.001)is higher than the public stigma of college students.Scores,self-stigma scores were significantly(p<.001)lower than college students’ self-stigma scores.Middle-aged and older people scored lower on professional psychological help-seeking attitude(MSD=4.66±5.98),and significantly(p<.001)was lower than college students’ professional help-seeking attitude score.(3)The public stigma and self-stigma scores are significantly different in the work status;the self-stigmatism scores are significantly different in occupation;in the professional psychological help-seeking attitude,the professional psychological help-seeking attitude scores of middle-aged and older women are significantly higher than those of males.The professional psychological help-seeking attitude,the middle-aged and elderly people with high education scores higher than the middle-aged and elderly people with low education level.(4)The public stigma of middle-aged and elderly people was significantly correlated with the professional psychological help-seeking attitude(r=-.14,p<.05).The self-polling of middle-aged and elderly people was not significantly related to professional psychological help-seeking attitude(r=-.08,p=.18).Compared with the results of college students(r=.15,p<.01),the correlation coefficient between public stigma and professional psychological help-seeking attitude is lower.(5)After controlling the demographic variables,the public stigma and professional psychological help-seeking attitude of the middle-aged and elderly people returned significantly.The public stigma can predict the professional psychological help-seeking attitude well,but the self-stigma and professional psychological help-seeking attitude are not returned.Significant.In summary,the public stigma and self-polling scores of middle-aged and elderly people are higher,while the professional psychological help-seeking attitude scores are lower.Compared with college students,the public stigma scores of middle-aged and elderly people are higher,the self-staining points are lower,and the professional psychological help-seeking attitude scores lower.The higher the level of public stigma of middle-aged and elderly people with psychological barriers,the more negative the attitude towards professional psychological help.We can adopt strategies such as education and contact to reduce the public stigma scores of middle-aged and elderly people and improve their professional psychological help-seeking attitude. |
