| As top man of Tongcheng School in Late Qing Dynasty,Wu Rulun plays an role in the history of Tongcheng School.His thoughts over ancient proses not only are closely related to profound changes in the world,but also has the duality of conservatism and change.The discovery of his thoughts over ancient proses shall bring some new inspiration to the study of Tongcheng School.The introduction part of this paper explores the research basis and significance of this topic,followed by which a brief overview of previous studies is given,meanwhile the basic ideas and main contents of the research are briefly introduced meanwhile.The first chapter mainly elaborates Wu Rulun’s concept of "literature and Tao" in ancient Chinese prose.It focuses on his thought of "emphasizing the literature " and"emphasizing the Tao" and his concept of "integration of literature and Tao".In addition,it also discriminates Wu’s viewpoint of "Emphasizing of literature but neglecting rationality",which is often discussed in academic circles.The second chapter mainly explores Wu Rulun’s theory of " sounds and air ".Firstly,it suitably combs the thought of "sounds and air " in ancient literary theory.Next,it analyses the Tongcheng School’s theory of "According to the syllable for an air of articles".On the basis of sorting out the veins of the two,this chapter explores the inheritance and development of Wu Rulun’s "view of voice" to his predecessors.The third chapter mainly discusses Wu Rulun’s classical style.First of all,it starts with his stylistic theory,then the reasons behind his preference for strange literary style is explored,and an analysis of his ancient prose creation is also made.In addition,the commentary materials of his ancient prose by the people of that time are explored in depth too,which tried to show his style of ancient Chinese prose from the side.The last chapter mainly elaborates on the topic of translating Western learning by ancient Chinese.First of all,it relates to the turbulent and complicated situation in the late Qing Dynasty,which shows that Wu’s advocacy of translating and Introducing Western learning by ancient Chinese is based on the choice of the times.Secondly,it also explores the ideological approach behind this choice of Wu’s,which can find his concept of "integration of literature and Taoism" in the vision of all nations.Next is the analysis of the specific practice of translating and introducing Western learning by ancient Chinese,with Yan Fu and Lin Shu as the research objects.At the end of this chapter,Connecting the Cultural Background of the New and Old Style Transition,the idealized features and limitations of the translation and introduction of Western learning by ancient Chinese are mainly elaborated,then the final fate of Tongcheng ancient prose at the turning point of the era change meanwhile are revealed. |
