Isaiah Berlin is a thinker for known for "anti-trend" liberal in the twentieth century,he actively advocated and emphasized the negative freedom and and based it on the position of pluralism,so it is called Berlin-style liberalism.He developed a unique contribution to liberalism,but it has also leaved a huge problem to liberal theory,and it’s still difficult to completely break so far.His concept of freedom has inspired many to us that can not be ignored for us to explore and understand the question of freedom,but also there are many misleading.Through Berlin’s two concepts of liberty and value pluralism,we can get a glimpse of its positive significance and limitations of Berlin’s concept of freedom.Especially after Marxist’s concept of freedom has made a review to Berlin’s concept of freedom,we are more able to find a clear view of the limitations of Berlin’s concept of freedom,but also more aware of Marxist’s concept of freedom is more comprehensive and scientific,is a great beyond and promotion to Berlin’s concept of freedom.
